Spite of the many deeds of bravery which can be credited to the United States Navy, it is only in recent years that our country has taken any rank among the maritime powers of the world. The war with Spain came as a revelation of the strength of a naval force but recently called into being. With the constant growth of this branch of the serĀ­vice, which is bound to follow, we may hope soon to possess a song of the sea that may equal the power of " Rule Britannia."
